The Agility Year End Function was again a great success with much laughter and camaraderie. The food was good, especially the chocolate fountain, there was sufficient to drink and the party only finished well after 1.00 am.
The awards ceremony started by the hottly contested results of the National Agility League.
Gauteng did well. In the Large Category all rounds were won by Gauteng dogs. Ich won an amazing 5 of the 8 rounds, followed by Boet with 2 rounds and
This year the committee decided to re-instate some very old trophies which had been forgotten on some shelf or cupboard. It was quite a mission to find them all and for some the original purpose and title is no longer known and hence they were given new names. The oldest of these, for the Gauteng Dog Jumping League Grade 1, went back to 1988 and had been awarded to people who most handlers today don't even know, by dogs long gone.
It is hoped that by continuing the tradition of these trophies not only will a retraceable history of Agility and Dog Jumping in Gauteng be built but it will honor and respect those people before us who have paved the way to make our Sport what it is today.
Over and above those trophies a few other awards were handed out. Most of these were actual "achievements", mathematically documented over the course of the year.
